Is America running low on weapons? Not if you ask Donald Trump.
Here's the story, as reported by cbinews.tv:
So, President Donald Trump has come out swinging. On Thursday, he took to Truth Social to rubbish reports that the US is running low on munitions amid the ongoing Iran war, insisting America is absolutely loaded.
The Republican insisted the United States has “massive amounts of ‘munitions’ especially of certain types,” adding that even more are being manufactured and shipped as needed, with defence companies building “the largest number of plants and factories in our country’s history.”
It comes after The Washington Post reported that Trump had demanded answers from Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth last Friday at Camp David, reportedly telling him he thought the munitions issue “had been fixed.”
Trump didn’t hold back in his response. He blasted the reports as treasonous and warned that the “leakers” behind them are being “hunted down” and that “long term jail sentences will be sought!”
CNN, meanwhile, had claimed that shortages of long-range guided missiles and air-defence interceptors had affected Trump’s strategy, with the US military having “nearly exhausted 80%” of its THAAD interceptor stockpile. The Post also suggested the shortages led Trump to call off fresh strikes on Iran, despite threatening to hit the Islamic republic “very hard”.
The White House is pushing back hard. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the Camp David clash story “FAKE NEWS!” on X, saying: “I was at Camp David with President Trump and Secretary Hegseth. This literally never happened.”
Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell also dismissed both the clash and shortage reports as “equally fictional.”
On the other side, Iran’s foreign ministry has denied any negotiations are under way with Washington, even as Trump maintains Tehran is keen for a deal.
