ISWAP releases video showing assault on army positions In Borno communities...
Suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province have released a video allegedly showing coordinated attacks on several Nigerian military positions in Borno State.
CBI News reports that the footage reportedly captured assaults carried out on March 5 on Nigerian Army locations in Mainok, Jakana, Marte, and Konduga.
The video, which surfaced on social media platform X, was shared on Sunday by researcher Brant Philip.
In the footage, heavily armed insurgents were seen firing weapons while parts of what appeared to be a military camp were set ablaze amid intense gunfire.
The attackers also displayed weapons, ammunition, military vehicles and several motorcycles they claimed were seized from soldiers during the raids.
The items were arranged in what appeared to be an inventory of captured equipment.
Voices speaking in Hausa and Arabic could be heard in the background of the footage celebrating the operation.
One of the voices said: “Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alamin, Allahu Akbar. God Almighty has brought us here and God Almighty has chased them away. All the vehicles you are seeing here belong to the Nigerian Army.”
The emergence of the video comes days after reports that terrorists carried out simultaneous attacks on four military bases in Borno State.
The raids reportedly targeted army positions in Mainok, Jakana, Marte and Konduga.
According to security reports, the attacks occurred between about 10 p.m. on Thursday and 3 a.m. on Friday, highlighting the coordinated nature of the assault.
Authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement on the attacks or the extent of casualties and damage recorded during the raids.
