Israel says missiles fired by Iran after Trump pauses infrastructure attack
Israel’s military said on Wednesday it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward its territory, shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a delay in planned strikes on Iranian infrastructure.
“The Israeli army identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military said on its official Telegram channel.
The warning came minutes after Trump said he had agreed to postpone a major attack on Iran by two weeks and expressed readiness for a ceasefire if Tehran fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz.
Explosions were heard in Jerusalem and Jericho in the occupied West Bank, according to witnesses.
The Israeli military instructed residents in affected areas to seek shelter as air defence systems were activated.
