Israel Air Strikes Kill Eight in Southern Lebanon Amidst Ceasefire Violations

Fresh Israeli air raids have reportedly left at least eight people dead across southern Lebanon, further escalating tensions despite an ongoing US-brokered ceasefire extension.
According to cbinews.tv, at least eight people have been killed following fresh Israeli air strikes across southern Lebanon, in what Lebanese authorities describe as another breach of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli fighter jets struck the village of Doueir on Wednesday, killing five people and injuring two others. Several homes were also reportedly flattened during the attack, leaving residents scrambling for safety.
In another strike near a hospital in the village of Tibnin, two more people lost their lives. Meanwhile, a separate drone attack in Burj Shemali, located in the Tyre district, reportedly killed a motorcyclist.
The Lebanese Red Cross also confirmed recovering a body on the outskirts of Shebaa in Nabatieh governorate, adding to growing fears over the worsening humanitarian situation.
These latest attacks come despite the United States-mediated ceasefire, which was recently extended until early July. Yet, violence continues to flare across southern Lebanon.
Just hours before Wednesday’s strikes, at least 16 people were reportedly killed in Israeli air raids across the region on Tuesday. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the victims included three women and three children.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed its fighters clashed with Israeli troops attempting to advance into the centre of Haddatha overnight. The group also reported confrontations in Biyyada and Rashaf.
Reports indicate that Israeli military operations are no longer limited to southern Lebanon, with strikes and troop movements now extending into the western Bekaa Valley.
Lebanese authorities say that since 2 March, Israeli attacks have killed more than 3,000 people, injured over 9,000 others, and displaced more than 1.6 million residents — nearly one-fifth of Lebanon’s population.
Entire villages in southern Lebanon have also reportedly been destroyed, drawing comparisons to the devastation witnessed during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
