Imagine sweating through 45-degree heat with no light, no fan, and no AC. That's the reality right now in southern Iran.
Southern Iran is sweltering right now, and the power grid is feeling the heat too, literally.
Iran's energy ministry has made a direct plea to citizens to cut back on electricity use after US strikes reportedly hit energy infrastructure in the south.
In a statement released on Friday, the ministry urged everyone to switch off their air conditioners during peak hours.
The reason? To try and keep the lights on in the southern provinces, which are battling both extreme heat and what officials describe as attacks on electricity supply facilities.
It’s a tough ask when temperatures are soaring, but the government says every little saving will help stabilise supply.
