Iran demands reparations, recognition of rights and security guarantees.
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has outlined three key conditions his country says must be met to end the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Pezeshkian disclosed the conditions in a post on X on Wednesday, stating that Iran remains committed to peace but insists that certain demands must be met before hostilities can end.
According to the Iranian leader, one of the major conditions is the payment of reparations by the United States for the damage caused during the war.
He also called for the recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights and the provision of firm international guarantees to prevent similar attacks in the future.
“Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war ignited by the Zionist regime & US is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int’l guarantees against future aggression,” Pezeshkian wrote.
CBI News reports that the Iranian president explained that the conditions were discussed during conversations with leaders of Russia and Pakistan, both of which have criticised the attacks on Iran.
Reports indicate that the conflict has already resulted in heavy casualties.
More than 1,300 people in Iran have reportedly been killed since the war began about 12 days ago following airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel.
Iran’s retaliatory strikes have also led to casualties on the other side, including the deaths of eight American soldiers and at least 12 people in Israel.
Among those reportedly killed in the strikes were Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and more than 160 schoolgirls who died after a missile hit their school.
According to reports cited by The New York Times, a United States military investigation confirmed that the strike on the school was carried out by American forces.
Despite claims by Washington that it has destroyed a significant portion of Iran’s air force, navy and missile capabilities, Tehran continues to launch missiles and drones at Israel and US-linked targets across the Middle East.
