Fresh tension is brewing in the Middle East as Iran accuses the United States of violating the ceasefire following strikes on the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. Tehran says it will defend its sovereignty “by all necessary means” amid rising threats and diplomatic pressure.
Iran has strongly condemned what it described as repeated ceasefire violations by the United States after fresh strikes hit the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.
According to cbinewstv, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, said Tehran would take “all necessary measures” to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also criticising what he called threatening comments from American officials.
In a statement released on Thursday, Baqaei accused Washington of escalating tensions despite ongoing diplomatic talks aimed at ending the conflict that began on February 28.
The spokesman also expressed solidarity with Oman after US President Donald Trump reportedly threatened the Gulf nation over its role in discussions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
Baqaei described Trump’s remarks as “a worrying sign of the normalisation of anarchy and intimidation in international relations”.
Reports say US forces carried out strikes targeting a ground control station in the Bandar Abbas port area. In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed they targeted the US air base linked to the attack, although no specific location was disclosed.
Kuwait’s military later confirmed that its air defence systems responded to what it called an “enemy” attack during the brief escalation.
The latest flare-up comes even as Tehran and Washington continue diplomatic exchanges in search of a possible agreement to end the war.
On Wednesday, Trump warned he would “finish the job” if Iran failed to agree to a deal, while also issuing a warning to Oman, a key mediator in the conflict.
