From grit to growth — here’s how one of Nigeria’s top business leaders says entrepreneurs can actually build things that last.
According to cbinews.tv, Baywood Holdings Executive Vice Chairman Chris Baywood Ibe has opened up about the real highs and lows of his entrepreneurial journey.
Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe, Executive Vice Chairman of Baywood Group, hosted the board of InsurTech at the company’s headquarters in Lagos following a landmark achievement in Nigeria’s insurance sector.
During the visit, InsurTech formally presented its operating licence issued by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), following its official approval in Abuja—making it the first of its kind to reach this milestone in the country.
The development is being described as a defining moment for the future of insurance in Nigeria, signaling a new era of innovation, digital transformation, and expanded financial inclusion within the industry.
Speaking at a recent business engagement session, Ibe didn’t sugar-coat it. He said building successful businesses across different sectors takes three things: resilience, innovation, and a clear strategic vision. Those, he explained, were the same factors that helped him grow and expand in Nigeria’s private sector.
He also made a point of speaking directly to young Nigerians. Entrepreneurship, Ibe noted, is still one of the biggest drivers of economic development we’ve got. His advice? Get creative, stay persistent, and focus on actually creating value if you want to build something sustainable.
The conversation fed into a bigger discussion happening right now around enterprise development, innovation, and how the private sector can push Nigeria’s growth forward.
