So, INEC has finally put President Tinubu and VP Shettima's CVs out there for everyone to see, and trust Nigerians to start reading it like JAMB results.
Here's the gist, as reported by cbinewstv:
So the Independent National Electoral Commission kicked off the public display of personal particulars for the 2027 presidential candidates on Saturday, and yes, President Bola Tinubu of the APC and his running mate, VP Kashim Shettima, are front and centre.
According to Form EC9 sighted by cbinewstv, President Tinubu's file shows a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chicago State University, USA — awarded "with honours" on June 22, 1979. His NYSC discharge papers also made the list, showing he served in Oyo State from December 1982 to November 1983.
Work history? Quite straightforward. Three places:
Mobil Nigeria Limited (1983 - 1992) — left for "advancement", Lagos State Government (1999 - 2007) — left at the "legal end of tenure", and the Federal Government of Nigeria (2023 till date).
One little detail people have already spotted — the years for his primary and secondary school were filled in as "0000", with only the university degree listed. Personal details list his date of birth as March 29, 1952 (age 74), birthplace as Lagos, residential address as No. 4, Queen's Drive, Ikoyi, and occupation simply as "politician."
For VP Shettima, his file was a bit more detailed from the ground up. His Primary School Certificate from the Ministry of Education, North-Eastern State, shows he attended Lamisula I Primary School from 1972 to 1978, finishing second out of 22 pupils — with English, History and Religious Knowledge as his best subjects.
His WAEC result from Government Secondary School, Potiskum (June 1983) shows six credits and passes, including distinctions in Religious Knowledge and Economics. He then bagged a Second Class Upper in Agriculture from the University of Maiduguri in August 1989, and later an MSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan. His NYSC was from October 1989 to October 1990.
Now, for those wondering why all this is on public display, it's actually the law. Under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, INEC must publish candidates' particulars within 21 days of receipt.
INEC itself said: "Form EC9 contains the credentials, personal particulars and affidavits submitted by candidates sponsored by political parties."
The documents are up at INEC offices nationwide, including the Lagos office in Sabo-Yaba and LGA offices. And yes, the public can apply for certified true copies and challenge anything that looks like false declaration or forgery in court.
Campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are set to kick off on August 19.
