The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will officially end today, Sunday, 26 July, urging eligible Nigerians not to miss the final opportunity to register or update their voter information.
cbinews.tv reports that the electoral umpire made the announcement in a post on X, reminding citizens that registering to vote is a key requirement for participating in the 2027 General Elections.
According to INEC, "Time is running out, but there's still an opportunity to make your voice count."
The commission called on Nigerians who have not yet registered to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any INEC state or local government office before the registration window closes.
INEC explained that the exercise is not only for first-time voters but also covers requests for voter transfers, correction of personal details and the replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The commission noted that the nationwide registration exercise has been carried out in phases over the past year.
The first phase began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration later that month. By the end of the exercise in December, INEC had recorded more than 2.5 million completed registrations across the country.
A second phase, which ran from January to April 2026, added nearly 3.75 million new registrations, while the third phase commenced in May.
To give more Nigerians the opportunity to participate, INEC later extended the exercise by an additional two weeks in July.
With the deadline now here, the commission is urging all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register or update their records not to delay any longer, stressing that only registered voters will be eligible to cast their ballots in the 2027 General Elections.
