Agboke replaces Oluwatoyin Babalola, who has been transferred to Osun State, Southwest Nigeria..
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the assumption of duty of a new Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mutiu Olaleke Agboke.
In a statement issued on Monday in Akure by the commission’s administrative secretary in the state, Adenike Tadese, INEC said Agboke had resumed as the 21st REC in Ondo State.
Agboke, a legal scholar and election management expert from Abeokuta in Ogun State, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006, the statement said.
He previously served as a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission between 2012 and 2016.
INEC said Agboke had also served as REC in Ondo, Oyo and Osun states, where he supervised the 2019 and 2023 general elections.
“The commission expresses confidence in his ability to strengthen electoral integrity and deliver credible, free and fair elections in Ondo State,” the statement said.
