Missed earlier voter registration? This is your last chance—INEC has fixed dates for the final nationwide registration exercise ahead of crucial elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the resumption of the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, set to begin on May 11, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, confirming that the exercise will run until July 10, 2026.
INEC explained that the second phase of the CVR, which was suspended on April 17, 2026, allowed the commission to clean up the voters’ register after it was published for claims and objections.
With the final phase now set, the commission is urging all eligible Nigerians—especially those who have recently turned 18 or missed earlier registration periods—to seize this opportunity to register and secure their voting rights.
The commission also encouraged already registered voters who needed to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to either visit INEC offices nationwide or use the official online portal.
INEC further disclosed that the updated voters’ register will be displayed for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026. This period will allow citizens to file claims and objections, ensuring the register remains accurate, transparent, and credible.
Reassuring the public, INEC stated that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process nationwide.
The commission emphasized that participation in the CVR exercise is crucial to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process and ensuring inclusive elections.
