Tunji Disu deploys DIG Shehu Nadada to Kaduna after Ariko attack...
The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), Shehu Umar Nadada, to Kaduna State following the recent attack on Ariko village.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the DIG’s assignment is to coordinate security operations, restore order, and ensure the rescue of abducted victims.
The statement noted that Nadada would work alongside the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS) to strengthen ongoing rescue efforts.
“The IGP has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations) to deploy to Kaduna State in response to the recent attack in Ariko Village near Gurara Dam,” the statement read.
It added that armed bandits attacked ECWA and Catholic churches in the community on April 5, killing five people and abducting about 14 others.
“In response, the IGP ordered immediate operational intervention to assess the situation on site and coordinate security efforts to restore order and secure the release of the abducted victims,” the police said.
The police further disclosed that during the operation, security teams led by Nadada rescued seven kidnapped victims.
“They were taken to Katari Hospital for medical care and are in stable condition, awaiting reunion with their families,” the statement added.
The IGP assured that operations are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and bring those responsible to justice, while urging residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information.
The deployment follows the attack on Ariko community in Kachia Local Government Area, where gunmen targeted two churches during Easter celebrations, leaving several people dead and others abducted.
