If you ply the Anthony Village corridor, this one is for you - Lagos State has just shut down a section for urgent reconstruction, and you'll need a new route.
Heads up, Lagosians!
There’s a major traffic diversion happening right now at Anthony Village Bus Stop, and you’ll want to plan your journey properly to avoid being stuck.
According to cbinews.tv, the Lagos State Government kicked off reconstruction works at the bus stop after that particular stretch kept getting badly damaged every time it rains heavily.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced this on his X handle on Tuesday, said the Ministry has commenced excavation works to finally fix the problem once and for all.
And this time, they’re not just patching it. The affected portion will be reconstructed with interlocking stones to make it much more durable.
So, what does this mean for you?
To get the work done safely, the government has rolled out a temporary traffic management plan:
If you’re coming from Fadeyi and you usually link the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village, that route is temporarily out of bounds.
If you were planning to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect to Oshodi, please stay on the expressway and connect through another road further ahead.
Coming from Oshodi and trying to access Anthony–Ikorodu Road via Anthony Village? There’s currently no through road at the project site.
The Ministry is advising all motorists to avoid Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, use alternative routes, and allow extra travel time.
It’s a bit of an inconvenience, but it’s for a good cause. The State Government has appealed for patience and cooperation from all road users throughout the period.
