The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the District Head of Olegabulu Community in Agatu Local Government Area, Alexander Awodi, by suspected armed herders.
Police spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, disclosed this in a telephone interview. She said the attackers also killed the monarch’s wife, Abigail Awodi, along with two other persons during the attack.
According to the police, a full-scale investigation has been launched to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, reports say four armed men riding on two motorcycles stormed the residence of the traditional ruler and opened fire on him and members of his household.
The gunmen reportedly operated for about twenty minutes before moving to a nearby house, where they killed two other persons, injured another, and escaped.
