Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has received the final batch of 82 worshippers abducted during a church service on January 18, 2026, by suspected bandits.
The worshippers were kidnapped when armed men attacked Kurmin Wali village in Kajuru Local Government Area, carting away a total of 177 victims.
Authorities confirm that 11 of the abducted worshippers had earlier regained their freedom, while 166 were held in captivity until the latest release.
While welcoming the returnees, Governor Uba Sani cautioned against the use of the media to fuel tension, stressing that his administration frowns at any action capable of undermining peace and security efforts in the state.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State Chapter commended the state government and security agencies for what it described as a swift and coordinated response that ensured the release of the worshippers.
In a related development, three other kidnap victims from Ungwan Auta community in Kajuru Local Government Area have escaped from their captors following military intervention.
The victims praised the Nigerian military for their timely operation, describing it as a life-saving effort.
