Fubara says Nigeria on stable path, needs support to sustain reforms...
Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying Nigeria is on a stable trajectory and requires sustained support to consolidate ongoing reforms.
CBI News reports that Fubara made the remarks while declaring open the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt.
Addressing traditional rulers from the 17 southern states, the governor acknowledged existing economic and governance challenges but insisted that the current administration has recorded measurable progress.
He cited improvements in economic recovery and infrastructure development, particularly ongoing coastal road projects, as signs of forward movement.
Fubara stressed the importance of policy continuity in sustaining these gains.
“It is not ideal to change the goalpost in the middle of the game,” he said.
The governor urged political leaders, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in pursuit of shared development goals.
He emphasised that unity remains essential for peace, stability, and economic growth across the southern region.
Fubara also described the hosting of the monarchs as evidence of the relative peace and stability in Rivers State, as well as its capacity to host major national engagements.
In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who presides over the council, said the meeting was aimed at strengthening ties among southern communities and promoting peaceful coexistence.
He noted that the region’s cultural diversity, reflected in its numerous dialects, should be seen as a unifying factor rather than a source of division.
The monarch said the council provides a platform for traditional rulers to deliberate on shared values and address issues affecting their communities.
He added that the body also complements government efforts in tackling security challenges and promoting economic development.
According to him, although participation in the council is voluntary, it remains crucial for fostering regional cooperation and national progress.
