Nigerian Government says the transition is expected to reduce processing time, improve credibility, and strengthen the integrity of academic credential verification.
The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the full digitisation of the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials, marking a major step in improving service delivery and administrative efficiency.
CBI News reports that the initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda, aimed at enhancing transparency, strengthening data management, and promoting evidence-based decision-making within the education sector.
Under the new system, all applications for the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will be processed exclusively online through the Ministry’s official verification portal.
Applicants are required to register and upload all necessary supporting documents via essverify.education.gov.ng, while their academic transcripts must be sent directly by their institutions from official email addresses to ess1@education.gov.ng for verification.
The Ministry also clarified that physical visits for credential verification are no longer required, as the entire process has been fully automated to ensure convenience and efficiency.
For further enquiries, applicants may contact ess.enquiry@education.gov.ng.
