Good news for Nigerian students studying abroad under the BEA Scholarship Programme, the Federal Government has started paying the long-awaited 2025 allowances, with beneficiaries expected to begin receiving alerts immediately.
According to reports by cbinews.tv, the Federal Government has officially commenced the payment of outstanding 2025 allowances to beneficiaries of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme.
The Federal Ministry of Education revealed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has already transferred the approved funds to Nigerian embassies and missions for onward payment to eligible scholars abroad.
Minister of Education,, disclosed that the funds released cover 50 per cent of the outstanding allowances for 2025, while efforts are ongoing to clear the remaining balance.
He explained that the money has already been credited to embassy accounts and advised students to keep an eye on their bank accounts as payments are expected to start reflecting immediately.
The Minister added that the move reflects the commitment of President Tinubu to supporting Nigerian students abroad through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also appreciated the patience and resilience shown by affected scholars, assuring them that the government remains committed to ensuring no student under its scholarship schemes is left unsupported.
The Federal Government further reiterated its commitment to fulfilling all legitimate obligations to scholars while sustaining policies that promote quality education, student welfare, and national development through human capital investment.
