The Federal Government has finally dragged three men to court over that shocking kidnap of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
In a major development, the FG has slammed a 10-count charge against three suspects linked to the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to court documents filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, the defendants, Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (aka Yunusa bin Musa) and Shamsu Adamu Sani (aka Abu Itisar), are all from Suleja LGA in Niger State.
They are facing some pretty serious allegations, including terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and even illegal mining.
Prosecutors allege that between January and May, the trio conspired with others still at large, Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab, to kidnap the schoolchildren and teachers. The FG says the alleged conspiracy contravenes Section 26(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The three were also accused of aiding the abduction and concealing vital information about the identities and activities of the alleged masterminds, even though they were aware of the plot.
Case has now been filed and proceedings are expected to commence soon.
