FRSC aims to reduce crashes, improved response time in 2026
The head of Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, said on Thursday the agency would prioritise improved efficiency, fewer road accidents and faster emergency response in 2026.
Mohammed spoke at the FRSC First Quarter 2026 strategy session with senior officials in Abuja, where commanders reviewed performance and set operational targets for the year.
He said the meeting aimed to align the corps’ activities with national priorities under President Bola Tinubu’s policy agenda.
Mohammed added that the move was a deliberate effort to strengthen road safety and support economic activity through safer transport systems.
“The meeting comes at a crucial point in the Corps’ operational calendar,” Mohammed said, noting it would assess 2025 outcomes, including the Operation Zero Exercise, and reposition the agency for improved service delivery.
He said performance reviews should go beyond rankings and instead help identify operational gaps, reinforce best practices and promote accountability.
Mohammed said 2026 must be defined by measurable results, including improved enforcement, reduced crashes, quicker rescue services and stronger public confidence in the corps.
He commended FRSC personnel for their dedication and urged participants to focus on practical, solution-driven discussions that would deliver clear outcomes.
CBI News reports that the session’s theme, “Driving Excellence through Performance Review, Strategic Coordination and Enhanced Road Safety Delivery,” reflects the agency’s push for coordinated and results-oriented operations.
