In a truly heartbreaking turn, beloved political singer Muhammadu Buhari, better known to everyone as Kosan Waka, has died aged just 47.
According to his family, the iconic singer passed away on Sunday, with his funeral slated for 5 pm today in his hometown of Tsanni Village, Batagarawa LGA, Katsina State.
The tributes are already pouring in. Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said he was devastated by the news and sent his deepest condolences to the singer’s mother, family, friends, and teeming fans.
He described Kosan Waka as a Kano-based patriotic son of Katsina whose music transcended politics and served as a powerful tool for promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment.
The governor prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
From campaign stages to street corners, Kosan Waka’s songs were the soundtrack to Northern politics. His legacy in political communication and Hausa entertainment will live on.
