It was a ballot battle cry, not a call for violence. Senator Francis Fadahunsi has stepped forward to set the record straight on his viral comment about the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship poll.
Let's clear the air on this one.
According to cbinews.tv, Senator Francis Fadahunsi has clarified what he really meant when he urged members of the All Progressives Congress to “kill Osun Accord party members.”
In a statement released by his media office in Osogbo on Tuesday, august 11 2026, the Senator said the remark was purely metaphorical and has been taken out of context by some quarters.
He explained that he was simply calling on APC members and supporters to defeat the Accord Party overwhelmingly at the ballot box during the August 15 governorship election.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Senator’s statement was purely political and metaphorical,” the statement noted. “It was a call on supporters to overwhelmingly reject the Accord Party at the ballot box through lawful, peaceful and democratic means.”
Fadahunsi was emphatic that he has never supported violence, intimidation, or any form of physical attack against members of the Accord Party or any other political organisation. His long-standing position, he said, is that elections should be decided by the people and their votes, not by force.
The clarification comes after his earlier comment sparked reactions, with some interpreting it as an incitement to attack the opposition.
Looking ahead to Saturday, the Senator appealed to all political parties, their supporters, and the electorate to keep the peace before, during, and after the election. He also called on security agencies to remain professional and impartial, ensuring every eligible voter can exercise their right without fear.
As reported by cbinews.tv, Senator Fadahunsi reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values, issue-based campaigning, and a credible process where the will of the people prevails.
He urged the public to stop deliberately misinterpreting the statement, stressing that it was only meant to mobilise support for the APC to secure victory through the ballot.
