Drama in Kaduna today as ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai shows up in court — and he’s not alone.
So, Nasir El-Rufai was back in the hot seat this morning. The former Kaduna State Governor turned up at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the latest round of his corruption trial, according to cbinews.tv.
He didn’t arrive solo, either. El-Rufai was flanked by officials from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, plus operatives from the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Police Force. Quite the entourage.
What’s it all about? Prosecutors are alleging abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct from his time as governor. Their claim: funds were released for projects that either never happened or weren’t managed properly.
El-Rufai, though, isn’t having any of it. He’s denied every single charge and insists he’s innocent.
Today’s sitting is set to continue with motions and arguments from both the prosecution and defence teams as the case moves forward.
