El-Rufai denies reports linking him to 2027 presidential bid...
Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed reports linking him to a potential presidential bid ahead of the 2027 election.
CBI News reports that El-Rufai, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), clarified his position following speculation that he was preparing to contest for the presidency.
The denial was conveyed in a statement issued on April 14, 2026, by his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye.
According to the statement, El-Rufai distanced himself from comments attributed to a supposed political associate, stressing that he neither made nor approved such remarks.
He maintained that throughout his public life, he has consistently expressed his views personally and has never relied on third parties to speak on his political intentions.
The former governor added that any information regarding his future plans or political stance would only be communicated directly by him or through his authorised spokesperson.
“Disclaimer. Malam Nasir El-Rufai wishes to dissociate himself from comments regarding political aspirations which have been attributed to someone described by the media as a political associate.
“He did not authorise such comments.
“Throughout his public life, Mallam Nasir @elrufai has been known for the frank articulation of his views. He is not about to outsource the expression of his political views and thoughts to others.
“His public communication would continue to be issued directly by him or through his authorised spokesperson,” the statement read.
