Joint police and military operation frees eight abducted passengers as search continues for four still in captivity.
Eight kidnapped passengers from a commuter bus attacked in Kogi State have been rescued by a joint team of police and military operatives, the Kogi State Police Command has confirmed.
CBI News reports that the victims were among 12 passengers abducted when a bus operated by Big Joe Ventures Ltd was ambushed on Friday September 26.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, efforts are still underway to locate and rescue the remaining four victims still held by the kidnappers.
In a statement, the command said the Divisional Police Officer of Okene Division, CSP Nasir Muhammad, led a swift response involving police personnel, soldiers, and local vigilantes.
In a related development, on September 12, 2025, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and local vigilantes, rescued 17 kidnapped victims, 13 adults and four children according to a statement by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, acting assistant director of Army Public Relations.
