Egypt calls for talks on Iran war following ceasefire...
Egypt, which in recent weeks has helped shuttle messages between the United States and Iran, on Wednesday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week halt to military operations.
In an overnight call with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty "expressed his deep appreciation for this important American step to give diplomacy a chance and start a serious process of American-Iranian negotiations."
The foreign ministry said the truce was a "crucial opportunity that must be seized to pave the way for negotiations", adding that Egypt was committed to "continuing tireless efforts" alongside Pakistan and Turkey.
