Drone sightings force closure of Aalborg airport, days after similar disruption at Copenhagen.
Denmark’s Aalborg Airport, a hub for both civilian and military flights, was shut for three hours on Thursday after drones entered its airspace just days after Copenhagen airport faced a similar disruption.
Police said the drone activity mirrored the earlier incident in Copenhagen, which the government has called the most serious attack yet on its critical infrastructure and linked to suspected Russian incursions across Europe.
The closure also impacted Denmark’s armed forces, which use Aalborg as a base.
Authorities in Norway briefly closed Oslo airport earlier this week over drone sightings, while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned of a growing pattern of threats at Europe’s borders.
Russia’s ambassador to Denmark rejected allegations of involvement.
