No new Tax on Vehicles – NRS.
The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has dismissed as false a viral infographic claiming the Federal Government imposed a new tax on vehicles starting July 1.
CBI News notes that in a statement by Mr. Dare Adekambi, Special Adviser to NRS Chairman Dr. Zach Adedeji and spokesperson for the service, the NRS confirmed that no fresh vehicle tax has been introduced.
The misleading graphic told private, commercial, and corporate vehicle owners to pay an unspecified vehicle tax online or at approved banks. It also directed the public to http://www.firs.gov.ng for details — but the official NRS website is http://www.nrs.gov.ng.
Adekambi stressed that the material had no identifiable author and did not come from the NRS or any government agency.
He urged Nigerians to disregard the fabricated message and only trust information from verified official government channels.
“Citizens are advised to rely on official government channels for information on government policies,” he said.
For accurate updates on tax matters, follow the official NRS handles on all social media platforms and visit www.nrs.gov.ng.
