Football legend David Beckham has officially entered billionaire territory, making history as the first British sportsman to reach the milestone—according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.
According to a report by cbinews.tv, David Beckham has reached a major financial milestone, becoming the first British billionaire sportsman.
The former Manchester United and England captain, now 51, and his wife Victoria Beckham have seen their combined wealth climb to an estimated £1.185 billion ($1.583 billion), based on figures from the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List.
That puts the couple second among the UK’s richest sports-related figures, trailing only the family of former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, whose fortune is estimated at £2 billion.
Beckham, who retired from professional football in 2013, has built a powerful post-playing empire. He is a co-owner of Inter Miami, now regarded as Major League Soccer’s most valuable club at around £1.07 billion. He also continues to earn heavily through global endorsement deals with major brands like Adidas and Hugo Boss.
During his playing career, Beckham enjoyed a glittering run—winning the Premier League and Champions League with Manchester United before stints at Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Victoria Beckham has also played a major role in the family’s wealth, building a successful fashion brand after first rising to fame as a member of the Spice Girls.
Elsewhere on the Rich List, sporting icons continue to dominate. Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton ranks fifth with an estimated £435 million, while golf star Rory McIlroy sits seventh at £325 million. Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua comes in eighth with £240 million, followed closely by Tyson Fury in ninth with £162 million. England striker Harry Kane and tennis legend Andy Murray share 10th place, each valued at £110 million.
In the broader sports-business world, Matchroom Sport founder Barry Hearn and chairman Eddie Hearn have also crossed into billionaire status with a combined fortune of £1.035 billion.
Meanwhile, Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe saw a drop in his overall wealth due to declining valuations in his petrochemicals firm INEOS, though he remains one of the UK’s richest individuals.
