Oshiomhole dismisses opposition claims, saying their internal crises are self-inflicted...
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed claims by opposition parties that the ruling party is responsible for their internal crises, insisting that such challenges are self-inflicted.
CBI News reports that he made the remarks during a nationwide media chat organised by the APC, where he stressed that it is not the responsibility of his party to interfere in the affairs of opposition groups or shield them from internal conflicts.
The former APC National Chairman stated that it would be unreasonable for any political party to establish a structure solely to monitor and manage the problems of rival parties.
According to him, every political party must take full responsibility for resolving its own issues.
Oshiomhole noted that while the APC may offer advice when necessary, it cannot assume the role of settling disputes within opposition parties, maintaining that such obligations lie strictly with those parties.
“You cannot expect us, as a political party, to set up a department to manage opposition political parties so they don’t run into crisis.
“We are ready to offer help to political parties to resolve crises, but it is not our job to manage them,” he said.
Speaking on concerns about funding, the former Edo State governor also rejected suggestions that opposition parties are disadvantaged due to limited financial resources compared to the APC.
He argued that access to funding is not exclusive to the ruling party.
