The court throws out Nwachukwu, others' applications for stay of proceedings and suspension of ruling...
An Oyo State High Court on Friday validated the 2025 Elective Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that produced Dr Kabiru Turaki as the party’s substantive chairman.
Justice Ladiran Akintola, ruling on an amended originating summons filed by Musibau Adetunmbi on behalf of claimant Folahan Malomo Adelabi in Suit No. I/1336/2025, granted the 13 reliefs sought.
The court held that the convention organised by the party leadership complied with provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the 2022 Electoral Act as amended, and the Electoral Act 2026.
The judge also dismissed a motion seeking a stay of proceedings and suspension of rulings filed by Sunday Ibrahim, SAN, on behalf of Austin Nwachukwu and two others.
At a previous sitting, the court had rejected an application by Ibrahim to join his clients in the suit, ruling that the application lacked merit and dismissing it accordingly.
