Chelsea have beaten Arsenal to the signing of Morgan Rogers after agreeing a £117 million deal with Aston Villa, with the England attacker set to undergo a medical before completing his move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have won the race to sign Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers after reaching an agreement on a £117 million deal, edging out Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in London on Monday before signing a long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2032, with an option to extend for a further year.

According to football journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic, Chelsea acted quickly to complete the transfer after anticipating a late move from Arsenal. The reported fee of £117 million is £1 million higher than the amount Manchester City paid for Elliot Anderson.

Rogers, who is capable of playing on the left wing or in the No. 10 role, is said to have chosen Chelsea after holding talks with manager Xabi Alonso. He is also expected to reunite with close friend Cole Palmer at the west London club.

Arsenal had been strongly pursuing the highly rated attacker, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to bring him to the Emirates. However, Chelsea accelerated negotiations and ultimately secured the player's signature.

The Gunners are now expected to focus on alternative attacking targets, including Julian Alvarez and Junior Kroupi. They also retain an interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, who has also attracted attention from Liverpool.

Rogers' arrival is expected to add creativity, versatility and attacking depth to Chelsea's squad as the Blues continue preparations for the 2026/27 campaign.
