It looks like Xabi Alonso’s first big call at Stamford Bridge will not be a signing. It will be a sale.
Chelsea are ready to green light their first summer transfer under new boss Xabi Alonso, and it’s Filip Jorgensen heading for the exit, cbinews.tv reports.
The Blues are now open to selling the Danish goalkeeper after he told the club he wants out in search of regular playing time.
Jorgensen arrived from Villarreal two seasons ago and was tipped to give Robert Sanchez a real run for the number one shirt. But things have not quite worked out that way. The 24 year old has managed just 11 Premier League appearances across his two campaigns at Stamford Bridge.
While Alonso’s appointment could have given Jorgensen a clean slate, the report says he has already made his intentions clear to the club.
Chelsea actually blocked a potential move for the shot stopper during the January transfer window. Now, though, they are prepared to listen to offers this summer.
Several clubs across Europe and the Premier League are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation ahead of a possible deal.
