Ogun State is not playing around when it comes to security. The government just greenlit four hard-hitting bills to take on cultism, ritual killings, extortion and missing persons cases.

In what is being described as a bold security shake-up, the Ogun State Executive Council has approved four landmark bills aimed at protecting residents and making the state even more attractive to investors.
The approval happened at the Council meeting on Thursday, 30th July 2026, and it shows Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun is serious about tackling emerging threats head-on.
So, what are the four bills heading to the Ogun State House of Assembly?
1. The GLOVES Bill - Group Liability for Offences of Violence, Extortion and Secret Societies. In simple terms, if you belong to a cult or criminal gang, you can no longer claim "I wasn't there". Every member will be held jointly liable for crimes committed by the group. No more hiding.
2. The Victims' Rights Bill - For the first time in Ogun State, there will be a proper legal framework to protect and support victims of crime. We are talking compensation, welfare during investigation and trial, and even a dedicated statutory office to fight for victims' rights.
3. The Human Sacrifice Prevention and Prohibition Bill - This one directly confronts ritual killings. According to Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, our current laws weren't really built to deal with ritual-related crimes. This new bill treats human sacrifice as a distinct, serious offence and targets the entire chain involved.
4. The Missing Persons Bill - This will finally give law enforcement a clear legal playbook for missing persons cases. It will remove those frustrating bottlenecks that delay investigations, especially when they need to access financial records and other crucial information.
As the Attorney-General explained, the whole package is about keeping Ogun peaceful, secure, and open for business. With more investments pouring in, the government says it has to strengthen the legal safety net for lives, property and businesses.
The four bills will be transmitted to the Ogun State House of Assembly in the coming days for consideration and passage.
