Here’s what went down in Asaba:

Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured investors that the Federal Government is ready to back any serious, credible investment in the country — and then some.

Speaking on Monday at the Delta Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, Shettima said the growing number of investment summits across states is actually a good thing — it shows healthy competition.

According to him, with more revenue flowing to the states, sub-nationals now have a much stronger foundation to build real economic growth.

And Delta isn’t just talking. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori came prepared.

In his address, the governor announced that his administration has set aside a whopping $100 million — roughly N133.8 billion — as viability gap funding to de-risk new investments coming into the state.

He also revealed that over 12,000 hectares of farmland have already been earmarked for agricultural development for prospective investors, with huge opportunities in the value chain for cassava, oil palm, rice, potato and other cash crops.

Add to that a 1-3 kilometre coastline perfect for a thriving marine economy, and you can see Delta is making a serious play for both local and foreign direct investment.

The summit itself is being positioned as a strategic platform to deepen investor confidence, foster partnerships, and drive economic transformation in the state.
