If you've seen that "urgent" NYSC redeployment broadcast flying around WhatsApp, please ignore it!

Scammers are at it again.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has come out to disown a viral notice claiming that a special redeployment window for corps members is now open.

The scheme flagged the notice as totally fake on Friday via its verified X handle, @officialnyscng.

You know the one - styled as “URGENT NOTICE: NYSC REDEPLOYMENT” and addressed to “Parents/Guardians”. It claimed the window was open because of “issues of National Security, Health, and State of the Nation” and urged corps members with “genuine grounds” to apply quickly to “ensure their safety, proper placement, and timely completion of service.”

The dodgy broadcast even dropped two phone numbers for people to “please contact ASAP”, claiming “valid documents are required, and all applications must follow NYSC guidelines.” Classic format.

In response, the National Directorate Headquarters stamped the whole thing with a big, bold “FAKE NEWS” watermark and a “Disclaimer” tag to warn corps members and parents not to fall for it.

As of press time, the NYSC has not revealed who is behind the fake circular.

And honestly, this isn’t new. Fraudsters love to exploit the redeployment anxiety to extort money from corps members and their worried parents.

The NYSC, led by Director-General Olakunle Nafiu, has said it again and again - all deployment and redeployment matters are handled EXCLUSIVELY through its official portal and offices. No agents, no phone calls, no WhatsApp payments.

So, before you take any action or send anybody money, please verify directly from the official NYSC website and their verified social media handles.
