The Lebanese Disaster Risk Management Unit says more than one million people were displaced and over 136,000 sheltered in designated facilities due to the crisis...
A Lebanese family in Beirut launched a mobile aid initiative that supported the displaced families from the ED who fled the Crisis between Israel and Hezbollah.
Footage filmed on Saturday March 28 showed volunteers who loaded a truck with aid labelled 'Love outfits', before they delivered supplies. Other scenes showed the family who prepared items inside their shop for distribution.
The project, known as 'Camion Love', was set up by the Raad family alongside volunteers which deliver essentials directly to those in need, rather than supplies from fixed centres.
Initiative organiser Hasan Raad said the idea was responded quickly to urgent needs.
“We wanted to do something different from the previous initiative during the previous conflict. The idea came out in my house when my family and I decided to secure a truck to distribute the aid on a daily basis to our displaced people, then come back home, instead of arranging a centre. I didn’t prefer to store the items in the store while people are in need of them as soon as possible,” he said.
“Camion Love has been handing out different aid since the first day. We started with providing mattresses, followed by blankets and pillows, then tents. We dedicated an initiative to distribute a fruit-loaded truck,” he added.
The initiative is part of a wider wave of grassroots efforts across Lebanon, where social and community groups have mobilised to assist those affected by the conflict.
The escalation follows Hezbollah’s involvement in the broader regional conflict linked to US and Israeli strikes on Iran, with cross-border hostilities continuing.
