Atiku’s media team announces death of long-term aide...
A pioneer member of the media team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Ifeanyi Izeze, has died.
The death was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Atiku media office, which noted that the former Vice President is mourning the loss of the respected media professional.
According to the statement, Izeze joined Atiku’s media team in 2006 from the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot-Abasi, where he had been working before taking up the role of Office Manager in the media team of the then Vice President.
The statement highlighted that Izeze contributed significantly to the operations of the media team at a critical stage in Atiku’s political career, bringing with him extensive experience in the media, the Niger Delta region, and Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
CBI News reports that Izeze studied geology up to the postgraduate level at the University of Port Harcourt but later built a career in journalism.
Over the years, he reported extensively on Nigeria’s oil and gas sector for several newspapers, including the now-defunct Sunray, Anchor, and NewAge, before eventually joining ALSCON.
Within the Atiku Media Office, he served as a senior member of the team and its pioneer Office Manager.
He also played a role in shaping aspects of the Atiku presidential campaign policies in the Niger Delta, particularly in relation to the oil and gas sector.
The statement described Izeze as a man known for his strong sense of humour and deep Christian faith.
A member of the Christ Embassy, he was also an ordained preacher of the gospel under the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
The statement added, “May God give his family, friends, and colleagues the fortitude to bear his demise. Further details about his burial will be made public by his family.”
It further noted that Izeze is survived by children, grandchildren, and his elder brother, Pastor Emeka Izeze of The Guardian Newspapers.
The statement concluded with a prayer: “May God grant Ifeanyi’s soul an eternal rest and forgive him his sins.”
