Atiku passes vote of no Confidence on Senate Resolution..
Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed strong opposition to the Senate’s position on the recently passed Electoral Act, warning that the combination of manual and electronic transmission of election results could lead to confusion.
Atiku made the remarks following a visit to former military President Ibrahim Babangida at his residence in Minna, Niger State.
The African Democratic Congress chieftain said Nigerians had expected real-time electronic transmission of election results across all levels. Instead, the law now allows a mix of electronic and manual transmission, which he described as a recipe for “confusion or chaos.
He stated that his concern was not about contesting elections but ensuring transparency and efficiency for Nigerians.
Atiku said that the visit to Babangida was purely a customary one of paying respect to a statesman.
He dismissed speculations about his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku added that the ADC constitution does not provide for zoning of political offices.
He called for a single-tier, real-time electronic transmission system, urging all opposition parties to unite in pursuing this approach.
