Atiku says operation shows professionalism
Nigeria’s former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commended troops of Operation Whirl Stroke for rescuing abducted passengers along the Makurdi–Otukpo road.
He described the operation as a demonstration of courage and professionalism.
In a statement, Atiku praised the military for securing the release of victims, including candidates preparing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“The gallant troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have once again demonstrated courage, professionalism, and an unyielding commitment to the protection of innocent Nigerians,” he said.
He added that the intervention helped safeguard the future of the young students involved.
“I commend our brave men and women in uniform for the successful rescue of the abducted passengers... including young UTME candidates whose futures remain bright because of this timely intervention,” he said.
Atiku said the operation underscores the need to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework to ensure safe movement across the country.
“While we celebrate this success, it also reinforces the urgent need to strengthen our security architecture and ensure that every Nigerian can travel without fear,” he said.
He called for continued support and improved resources for security forces.
“Nigeria must work and it will work when we support and equip those who stand daily in defense of our people,” he added.
