Police say no evidence of foul play in Pattaya high-rise death.
A co-founder of online fashion retailer Asos has died after falling from a high rise apartment building in Thailand, police said.
Quentin Griffiths, a British passport holder, was found dead on the ground in the eastern seaside city of Pattaya on 9 February. Police said he had been staying as a long term resident in a luxury hotel suite on the 17th floor.
A police investigator said Griffiths was alone at the time of the incident, the room was locked from the inside and there were no signs of a break in. An autopsy found no evidence of foul play.
Police also said Griffiths had been involved in two ongoing court cases that may have caused him stress. He was separated from his second wife, a Thai national, and was reportedly in a legal dispute with her over a business they operated together.
Griffiths co-founded Asos in London in 2000 alongside Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan and Deborah Thorpe. He left the company five years later but remained a significant shareholder.
The company name originally stood for As Seen On Screen, reflecting its early focus on fashion inspired by clothing worn by television and film stars.
It later grew into a major online fashion marketplace carrying hundreds of brands as well as its own labels, and was at one point valued at more than £6 billion.
Among its largest shareholders are Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, owner of Bestseller, and Mike Ashley, owner of Frasers Group.
