Looks like APC is feeling pretty confident in Enugu — and newly elected Senator Ikeje Asogwa just got his paperwork to prove it.
So, Ikeje Asogwa has officially been handed his Certificate of Return as Senator-elect for Enugu North. INEC did the honours on Tuesday, and Asogwa didn’t waste time telling everyone that the APC is set to “clear the polls” in Enugu come 2027, as reported by cbinews.tv.
What’s giving him that confidence? He reckons it’s all down to the projects people are seeing on the ground. He pointed to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Peter Mbah’s Tomorrow is Here philosophy, saying the federal and state development push is winning hearts in Enugu State.
“The reason the APC won is because of what is going on in our state right now,” Asogwa said. “The transformation and development strides by our governor are tremendous and commendable.”
He’s also backing President Tinubu to win big in Enugu next time round. Why? “When you come, you see what the APC government is doing and you will be impressed,” he explained. “These are projects that are not just being planned; they are already being executed and completed.” He added that health, education and infrastructure are showing “visible achievements,” helped along by increased state funds after the fuel subsidy removal.
Now that he’s heading to the Senate, Asogwa says his priorities are straightforward: infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment. “We are going to get things done, starting from infrastructural development, improving the education and health sectors and then empowerment, especially for the youth,” he told cbinews.tv.
He wasn’t the only one picking up a certificate that day. INEC also handed them to Danladi Envulu-Anza for Nasarawa North, Olaka Nwogu for Rivers South-East, and Rabiu Shuaibu who took Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano. Dayo Faduyile, who won Ondo South, was absent.
Presenting the certificates for the INEC Chairman, National Commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and nudged them to deliver for the people who voted them in. She praised parties and supporters for keeping things peaceful during the June 20 by-elections, saying it shows a real commitment to the democratic process.
Agbamuche-Mbu added that more certificates are on the way for winners of other June 20 polls, including the Ekiti governorship and a state constituency election in Kebbi.
