After years of heartbreak and near misses, Arsenal have finally done it , the Gunners are Premier League champions again for the first time since the legendary Invincibles era.
Arsenal have officially been crowned Premier League champions, ending a 22-year wait for the English top-flight title.
The Gunners sealed the title on Tuesday night after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth, confirming Arsenal as champions with games to spare.
It has been an emotional and dramatic journey for Mikel Arteta’s side, who had finished runners-up in the last three seasons before finally getting over the line this year.
Arsenal spent most of the campaign at the top of the table, although their title hopes looked under serious threat in April when Manchester City began piling on the pressure. A painful 2-1 defeat at the Etihad even appeared to swing the advantage in City’s favour.
But Arteta’s men refused to crumble.
The North London club bounced back strongly and held off Pep Guardiola’s side to lift their first Premier League title since the famous “Invincibles” season of 2003/04.
The triumph also ends Arsenal’s six-year wait for major silverware and marks Arteta’s second major trophy as manager at the Emirates Stadium.
And there could still be more celebrations ahead, with Arsenal also chasing their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
