North London is red again! Arsenal have finally ended their 22-year Premier League title drought, sealing the crown with a hard-fought win over Crystal Palace.
Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
According to cbinewstv, the Gunners wrapped up a memorable campaign in style with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke securing all three points against the Eagles. Jean-Philippe Mateta pulled one back for Palace, but Mikel Arteta’s side held firm to spark wild celebrations among the travelling supporters.
Arsenal finished the season on 85 points, seven ahead of Manchester City, whose defeat to Aston Villa in Pep Guardiola’s final game in charge confirmed the title race outcome.
There was also a slice of history for the Gunners as 16-year-old Max Dowman became the youngest starter in Premier League history after being included in a heavily rotated side ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Jesus opened the scoring after linking up brilliantly with Gabriel Martinelli before Madueke smashed home Arsenal’s second from a corner — the club’s 19th set-piece goal of the season.
Crystal Palace thought they had snatched a late equaliser through Yeremy Pino, but the effort was ruled out for offside, allowing Arsenal to celebrate their long-awaited title triumph at full-time.
Arteta also received a timely boost before the Champions League final as Mikel Merino returned from injury, although Palace suffered an injury scare with Adam Wharton forced off ahead of their Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano.
