From tears of pain to tears of joy, Argentina is saving its fans again, and the Zocalo in Mexico City has never been louder.

Argentina supporters erupted at the FIFA Fan Fest in Mexico City's Zocalo after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over England sent the defending champions into the 2026 World Cup final.

Footage obtained by cbinews.tv shows a sea of blue and white, fans chanting non-stop and filling the air with clouds of spray, with dozens of Mexican supporters joining in the Albiceleste celebrations.

For some, it was more than just football.

Among the crowd was Ernesto Rivera, who watched the victory through tears as he reflected on a difficult chapter in his life.

"It's everything, Argentina is saving me again, man. I went through some very ugly, horrible moments in my life, I lost everything, and now we're back on top again with everything," he told cbinews.tv.

Agustin Lisandro, who travelled from Cordoba, soaked up the atmosphere in the heart of the Mexican capital and paid tribute to the host nation after the final whistle.

"We're in Mexico City, in the heart of Tenochtitlan, enjoying the Argentina versus England match. Come on, Mexico, come on Argentina, let's go, let's go," he said.

"Magic happened again, once again, we won again, we're going to the final," he added.

The confidence is sky-high heading into Sunday. Juan Mateo, another Argentine supporter in the Zocalo, did not hold back:

"We're going to kick Spain's ass, there's nothing more to say. Come on Argentina," he said.

Lionel Scaloni's side will now face European champions Spain in the final at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday.

Victory would give Argentina a fourth World Cup crown and make them the first nation since Brazil in 1962 to retain the title.
