The three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan did not immediately rule after hearing two hours of arguments.
A federal appeals court in Manhattan heard arguments over Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison sentence for prostitution-related charges, with judges questioning whether the hip-hop mogul’s roughly four-year term was too harsh.
The three-judge panel didn’t rule immediately after the two-hour hearing.
CBI News notes that Circuit Judge William J. Nardini called it an “exceptionally difficult case” raising unprecedented questions. Judges probed whether the sentencing judge improperly considered acquitted charges when handing Combs his term.
Defence lawyer Alexandra Shapiro argued it was the harshest sentence ever for someone with Combs’ record and conviction. But prosecutor Christy Slavik countered the sentence was below federal guidelines and in line with similar cases in the 2nd Circuit.
