It’s official in Ogun State politics as the APC has settled its governorship ticket, with Senator Solomon Adeola emerging as the clear favourite ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to reporting by cbinews.tv, the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) has announced Senator Solomon Adeola as its governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election after concluding its primary election process.
The announcement was made on Thursday night at the party secretariat in Abeokuta by the chairman of the APC governorship primary committee in the state, Wale Ohu. He confirmed the final collation of results from all 20 local government areas.
In total, the party recorded 343,292 registered members for the exercise, with 305,287 accredited voters taking part in the primary.
The outcome was overwhelmingly in favour of Adeola, who polled 304,055 votes. His only opponent, Abayomi Hunye, did not receive any votes.
Ohu summed it up plainly: “Senator Solomon Adeola scored 304,055 votes while Mr Abayomi Hunye polled zero. With these results, I hereby announce Senator Solomon Adeola as the winner.”
Senator Adeola, popularly known as ‘Yayi’, later confirmed his victory in a post on his X account on Friday, describing the process as historic. He expressed gratitude to party members and leadership for their support.
He also acknowledged the backing of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, noting the strong alignment within the party ahead of the general election.
The senator’s emergence now sets the stage for the APC’s campaign push in Ogun State as attention gradually shifts towards 2027.
