APC stalwart Mahmud Sadis Buba has stepped down from the race for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat, saying the decision was made to promote unity and reconciliation within the party ahead of the elections.
According to cbinews.tv, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mahmud Sadis Buba, has officially withdrawn from the race for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Buba announced his decision in a letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC on Saturday, explaining that the move was made in the interest of party unity and ongoing reconciliation efforts within the ruling party.
He stated that extensive consultations with family members, political associates, and key stakeholders influenced his decision to step down from the contest.
According to Buba, recent reconciliation efforts initiated by party leaders and stakeholders made it necessary for members to unite behind a single candidate to strengthen the APC’s chances in the election.
“This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he stated.
“I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he added.
The APC stalwart expressed appreciation to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the party leadership for allowing him to participate in the nomination process.
“I want to thank the leader of our party, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON, and the leadership of the party in Kaduna State for the opportunity to have participated in the nomination process,” he said.
Buba described the political process as enriching and also thanked his supporters and constituents for standing by him throughout the exercise.
He stressed that his withdrawal should not be seen as a sign of weakness but rather as a sacrifice aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the polls.
“My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party,” Buba stated while reaffirming his loyalty to the APC.
He also pledged to work for the success of the party’s consensus candidate and urged his supporters to remain peaceful, united, and committed to the APC’s decision.
“I ask my supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s decision and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate,” he added.
Buba’s withdrawal is expected to reshape the political contest in the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency as the APC intensifies efforts to consolidate internal unity ahead of the elections.
