Madridistas, relax, Big Toni isn't going anywhere.
Right, here's some proper good news out of the Bernabéu. As first reported by cbinewstv, Real Madrid have tied down Antonio Rudiger until the summer of 2027.
The club confirmed it on Tuesday with the classic no-nonsense statement: “Real Madrid and Antonio Rudiger have agreed the extension of our player’s contract, who will stay at the club until June 30, 2027.” Short, sweet, done.
And honestly, it makes sense. The 33-year-old centre-back rocked up from Chelsea in 2022, after spells at Stuttgart and Roma, and has been an absolute rock at the back. He’s already got a Copa del Rey from 2023 in the cabinet, plus that lovely La Liga and Champions League double in 2024.
It’s been a bit quiet on the trophy front for the last two seasons though, which is probably why president Florentino Perez has gone and brought Jose Mourinho back in earlier this month. Yes, that Jose Mourinho.
Perez isn't messing about in the market either. On Monday Madrid announced they’d snapped up Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, another raid on Stamford Bridge. And according to cbinews.tv, they’re still being heavily linked with Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries, with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté apparently lined up on a free when his Anfield deal runs out.
So, Rudiger stays, Mourinho’s back, and Madrid are shopping in the Premier League again. Feels like the old Galactico energy is creeping back.
